Here's the trick most data-plan blogs miss: they compare a Glo weekly plan against an MTN monthly plan and call one of them "cheapest." That's not a comparison — it's like comparing a week of Indomie to a month of garri. You can't know which saves you money until you normalise the math.
So we did that. We took the three most competitive plans on each major network, worked out what they actually cost per month, and matched each one to the kind of person who should buy it.
No spin. No affiliate gymnastics. Just the honest answer to the question Nigerians are really asking: "Which data plan gives me the most value for my actual life?"
plan (Airtel 5GB)
plan (MTN 5GB)
(Glo weekly × 4)
THE THREE PLANS The best data deals in Nigeria right now
These three plans are the sweet-spot picks on each major network. Check validity carefully — that's where most comparisons fall apart.
At first glance, Glo looks like the clear winner — ₦195/GB is unbeatable. But Glo's plan lasts only 7 days. If you want a full month of that much data, you'd buy it four times at ₦7,800. Suddenly that "cheap" Glo plan isn't so cheap if you only need 5GB in a month.
That's why the right plan depends on you, not the math alone.
The cheapest plan isn't always the cheapest. Validity, usage, and network reliability decide what you actually pay.
DECISION MATRIX Which plan fits YOUR life?
Forget the averages. Pick the plan that matches how you actually use data:
You're a light user
You mostly use WhatsApp, check email, scroll Instagram once or twice a day, and watch YouTube only on WiFi. 5GB a month is enough.
You're a heavy data user
You stream videos, attend online classes or work calls, share your hotspot, and always run out of data mid-month. You need 20–40GB.
You're the middle ground
You use 8–15GB a month. Speed matters to you. You want flexibility without committing to four weekly renewals.
You travel a lot for work
You move between cities and villages. Coverage matters more than price. Dropped calls cost you money.
All three plans. One wallet.
Instant delivery.
Skip the USSD codes and network apps. Buy MTN, Glo, or Airtel data on ABS Vendor — same prices, one login, and you earn ABS Points on every purchase.
Buy Data Now →BONUS 3 mistakes that waste your data money
1. Buying daily plans over and over. Daily plans always look cheap — ₦350 for 1GB feels harmless. Buy it 10 times in a month and you've spent ₦3,500 for 10GB. Two weekly Glo subscriptions would have given you 20GB for less.
2. Ignoring night data. If your Glo plan has bonus night data (most do), schedule downloads, backups, and app updates after midnight. That's free gigabytes you're currently wasting while you sleep.
3. Letting weekly plans auto-finish without a plan. Weekly plans can sneak up on you — seven days is faster than it sounds. Set a reminder two days before expiry so you can either renew or switch, not scramble at 11:59pm when your data dies.
Data shouldn't cost you a full day's wages. Pick the plan that matches your life, not someone else's.
