It’s 6:30 AM. Emeka, rolls out of bed, picks up his phone, and checks his email. Now, what the hell is CYBERSPACE?

Cyberspace is that invisible world where all these digital interactions take place. It's not a physical place you can touch, but it’s just as real as the real world. It's a vast, interconnected network of devices, data, and people.

Every time you send an email, make a bank transfer, or stream a video on YouTube, you are moving through cyberspace. Think of it like a digital highway system, where billions of pieces of information travel every second: from phones to servers, from one country to another, in a blink or at the speed of light. Let’s bring this closer to home..,

When you order food via a delivery app, your request is processed through cyberspace. The restaurant gets your order, the delivery guy sees it on his phone, and your payment is verified; all at where?

All thee happened online, right? None of this would be possible without that digital world running silently in the background.

Or think about remote work. A team of five software developers: one in Abuja, another in America, the third in London, the fourth in Accra, and the last in Dubai, can work on the same project in real-time using tools like Slack, GitHub, and Zoom. Their physical locations don’t matter. What connects them is the subject we're studying now – CYBERSPACE.

But cyberspace isn't just convenience, it’s also risk. Because it’s invisible and global, it’s open to attacks. A phishing email can trick someone into revealing their password. Hackers can break into poorly secured systems and steal data. This is why cybersecurity is critical, especially in the tech industry, where sensitive information and systems live online.

Just like we lock our doors at night to avoid some stories that touches the heart, we need to secure our presence in cyberspace using strong passwords, encryption, secure networks, and staying aware of digital threats.

In simple terms, cyberspace is the world behind your screen. It powers our communication, work, shopping, banking, entertainment; even relationships. It is the modern-day marketplace, classroom, office, and stage.

The tech industry doesn't just operate in cyberspace, it builds and protects it. And as it continues to evolve, our responsibility grows to make it safer, smarter, and more accessible.
