Most people looking for an MTN data plan are not really looking for a plan. They are looking for the answer to one question: what gives me the most data for the money I have right now.

MTN publishes a long list. The list is not sorted by value, the validity is buried, and the price you see on the official channel is rarely the price you have to pay. This page puts all of it in one table, sorted so the good deals are obvious.

MTN data plans and prices

[TABLE PENDING: pull live rows from active bill_top_up_providers, with data size and validity. Do not hand-type prices.]

Prices update automatically on this page. If a plan is listed here, we are selling it today.

The one worth pointing at

If you buy one thing on this page, buy the 5GB for ₦1,550, valid 30 days.

That works out at ₦310 per GB on a full month of validity. Most of the cheaper-looking plans on any MTN list are cheaper because they expire in a day or two. A 1GB daily plan is not competing with this. It is a different product, for a different problem.

The 5GB is the plan for someone who wants to stop thinking about data until next month.

MTN data deals: how to tell if one is good

A deal is only a deal on two numbers together. Price per GB, and validity. Miss either and you will overpay.

Price per GB. Divide the price by the gigabytes. A ₦1,550 plan with 5GB is ₦310 per GB. A ₦500 plan with 1GB is ₦500 per GB. The second one looks cheaper and costs you 61 percent more for the same data.

Validity. Data you cannot finish before it expires was never yours. A 2-day plan you use half of is double its sticker price in practice. Be honest about your usage before you buy short validity.

The trap. Daily and weekly bundles are priced to look small. They are the most expensive data on the market per gigabyte, and they are designed to be bought again in three days. If you are buying a daily plan twice a week, a monthly plan is cheaper and you stop thinking about it.

Cheap data plans in Nigeria: what cheap should mean

Cheap is not the smallest number on the page. Cheap is the lowest cost per gigabyte you can actually finish before it expires.

By that measure the monthly plans win almost every time for normal use. The daily plans win only if you genuinely need a small amount of data once, and you know you will not need more this week.

There is a second cost most people miss: the cost of buying. If you are paying a service fee, or topping up through a channel that charges above face value, that comes straight off your data. Buying at the correct price matters as much as picking the correct plan.

How to buy MTN data on ABS Vendor

  1. Create a free account and fund your wallet. Bank transfer, card, or an existing balance.
  2. Pick MTN, pick the plan, enter the number.
  3. It lands in seconds. Your receipt shows your balance before and after, so nothing is ever a mystery.

You can buy for any number, not just your own. Plenty of people on ABS Vendor buy for family, for staff, or for a shop full of customers.

If you sell data, the agent rate is lower than the price above on every plan. It applies automatically once your account is upgraded, and it is where the margin is if you are reselling.

Questions people ask

Do these plans work on any MTN line?
Yes, prepaid and postpaid, as long as the number is active. Some plans are refused on specific lines by MTN. If that happens, nothing is charged and your wallet is refunded.

How fast does it arrive?
Seconds, in the normal case. If a network is having a bad hour, an order can sit briefly before it clears. You will see the status either way, and a failed order is refunded automatically.

Can I buy for someone else?
Yes. Enter their number instead of yours. Nothing else changes.

What if I already have data left?
MTN stacks most bundles. Buying before you run out usually adds to what is there rather than replacing it. Check the plan terms if you are close to expiry.
